Our CARE programs provide vital services associated with:
Short-term respite foster care is available for children aged between 0-15 years for 1-2 nights on a 6 weekly basis. Temcare connects families-in-need with Christian carers from a range of churches. Respite provides a much needed break for many families while offering children a loving and caring environment.
Usually from difficult family circumstances, children are referred to Temcare from various sources and are then placed with couples, singles or families. Wherever possible and appropriate, Temcare will place sibling groups together. All Temcare carers are interviewed and are required to obtain a current ‘Working with Children Check’ and to submit to a national criminal history check.
Temcare provides intensive support for those parents and their children who are involved in our other substantive programs. Where appropriate, and with the consent of the person, Temcare will endeavor to link families into supportive church communities and professional networks, and to provide practical and emotional assistance when required.
Temcare runs a monthly Christian support group for women, called ‘Women of Hope’. This group was originally commenced in early 2015 by one of our volunteers, Deb Sebbage, but is now being led by Temcare staff.
An annual camp for mothers and their children involved in Temcare’s substantive programs is run during the January school holidays.
Temcare seeks to support parents by linking them to committed Christian adults who can mentor them in general life and parenting skills. At various times during the year and when resources are available, education programs are conducted to assist parents with relevant parenting matters.
Temcare facilitates limited school holiday programs for children already involved with its other CARE programs.
