Temcare [alternatively known as ‘Christian Brethren Community Care Ltd’ or CBCC] is a ‘not for profit’ Christian welfare agency that has been operating since 1968. It is a ministry of the ‘Christian Community Churches of Victoria and Tasmania’ [CCCVAT] and provides a range of services for vulnerable families within our community, spanning both the Melbourne metropolitan area and parts of country Victoria. Temcare is committed to creating a ‘Child Safe’ organization and ensuring that the ‘Child Safe’ standards are maintained. All staff and volunteers are therefore required to obtain a current ‘Working with Children Check’ and to submit to a National Criminal History check.

Temcare’s services include:

  • Regular temporary respite care [CARE] for children aged between 0-15 years.
  • One-to-one mentoring and support for adolescents [MATES] aged between 10-15 years.
  • Mentoring and education programs for parents.
  • Practical, emotional and spiritual support for parents and families.
  • A monthly support group for mothers [‘Women of Hope’].
  • Specific school holiday programs for children already involved with Temcare’s CARE program.
  • An annual camp and occasional retreats for adolescents involved in the MATES program.
  • An annual camp for mothers and children involved in Temcare’s various programs.
  • Aged care chaplaincy, incorporating planned activities and visitation.

As Temcare does not receive any Government funding, it is therefore primarily reliant upon the generosity of financial donations from individuals, churches and charitable trusts that share our vision.
