Respite Care

Notice: Temcare’s Respite Care program has changed. Our regular program is currently full and is not taking any new cases. Unfortunately we are unable to maintain a waiting list and ask that alternative arrangements be made by contacting other agencies. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. Once we have available spaces we will remove this notice from our website. (October 2025)

However, we welcome the opportunity to provide families in need of short term respite, free school holiday camps for children, and/or a free family camp for a few days of good food, activities, friendship and a special bonding time for parents and children together. These are in stead of being able to provide our regular respite care program, and act as a short respite from difficult situations. The camps are free for all approved referrals.

Additionally we have access to a wonderful semi-rural retreat for mothers with young children, where again there is great food, friendship, and carers available to look after children during the day to give Mum a break. This is again free of charge for approved referrals.

We continue to maintain a small respite care program providing a much-needed break for families while offering children a loving, safe and caring environment. It is available for children, aged between 0-15 years, usually for 1-2 days every 6 weeks. Temcare connects families-in-need with Christian carers. Our policy is that everything is done to help families thrive and remain united, therefore multiple siblings requiring respite care with Temcare will usually be kept together. At thi sstage we do not envisage expanding this program, but wil maintain what we have operating.

Temcare is a Christian charity and provides its services free of charge. Donations are always appreciated.

All Temcare respite carers are comprehensively assessed and accredited. They are required to obtain a current ‘Working with Children Check’ and to submit to  regular ‘National Criminal History Checks’.
